Learn more about this agency Responsibilities **THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR Selectee may be non-competitively promoted permanently if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.** The primary purpose of the INTERNAL CONTROL ANALYST, GS-0501-11, is to function as the Financial Management (FM) focal point for the Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiative, as well as, advise the Comptroller and Wing Commander in all matters relating to FM FIAR within the FM community. The incumbent will provide direction and leadership, under the Comptroller's authority, towards the planning, implementing and achievement of the FM FIAR initiative within the Wing. - Examines all areas to determine the effectiveness of procedures and also determines if supervisors are recording quality data upon which accurate management conclusions and decisions are based. - Provides technical internal control advice on military pay, civilian pay, travel pay, disbursing and collection, accounting, vendor and contract pay, budget, and systems administration. - Maintains a schedule of all reports, audits, inspections, and internal control reviews. - Identifies existing and potential material weaknesses and works with affected officials to develop a schedule of corrections. The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military. In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organization, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilization functions; or the position requires a skill or competency that necessitates technical expertise or professional qualifications that cannot be readily found in the military structure of the state military force. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. Qualifications INTERNAL CONTROL ANALYST, GS-0501-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Providing administrative oversight of the Quality Assurance (QA) Program; Researching, developing, modifying, and maintaining qualitative standards for use in evaluating and monitoring performance indicators; Providing technical internal control advice on military pay, civilian pay, travel pay, disbursing and collection, accounting, vendor and contract pay, budget, and systems administration. ***MUST possess a Financial Management Certification Level Two.
