TeamBuilders is hiring for an experienced Purchasing Specialist to join a stable food processing company in Fresno, CA. The Purchasing Specialist will lead the Purchasing Department and provide direct support the Purchasing Manager with all procurement functions in addition to implementing new technology, systems and procedures as necessary. This role will also allow you to assist in the development of the purchasing department including training and supervision of staff within the department. The Purchasing Specialist position is being offered on a full-time, direct hire basis Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM with overtime required as necessary which may include Saturdays. The Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Purchasing Specialist to Include:

  • Provide direct support to the Purchasing Manager with sourcing and purchasing a variety of ingredients, commodities and supplies
  • Preparation and management of Purchase Orders
  • Review and verify receipt of items received and resolve any errors with suppliers
  • Support and manage strategic sourcing projects working cross functionally with internal and external business partners
  • Prepare contracts and administer RFI, RFQ and RFP
  • Identify, source, develop and manage business relationships with suppliers
  • Daily collaboration with internal management teams including Accounting & Finance, Customer Service, Sales, Warehouse, Logistics, Quality Control and Production to ensure proper inventory levels on hand
  • Actively provide analytical support and assistance with AOP planning; financial planning process, including the annual budget and standard cost development process
  • Analyze and assess pricing, supply risks & trade trends and provide insights to the procurement team and business partners on underlying cost drivers
  • Prepare and generate reports and materials in support of presentations, workshops, and negotiations
  • Travel to vendor locations both domestically and internationally as required to assist with food safety audits of products and materials (approximately 3 weeks of travel per year)
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to purchasing may be required and/or assigned as necessary The Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications of the Purchasing Specialist:
    • Must have at least 5 years' experience in Procurement and Purchasing and at least 3 years' experience purchasing Food Products and Packaging
    • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred however a combination of experience and education will be considered
    • Expertise in contract negotiations, cost modeling, and value chain analysis with strong negotiation and influencing skills
    • Excellent track record of cultivating strong relationships with suppliers
    • Proven experience in sourcing processes & a thorough understanding of sourcing methodologies
    • Ability to productively collaborate with cross-functional teams and solve problems autonomously
    • Advanced software skills; MS Office Suite & ERP/MRP Systems
    • Professional communication skills; interpersonal, verbal and written
    • Impeccable attention to detail, analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects efficiently and accurately while meeting tight deadlines
    • Strong data analysis, research and presentation skills
