Want to learn the process for developing detailed electrical drawings, understand the codes and guidelines governing that design, and see the impact of new technologies in construction? We are looking for several Co-ops at any/all of our offices to assist our design team.POSITION OVERVIEWRex Moore Group, Inc. is looking for several Electrical Design Co-ops to join our dedicated team. This position would be located in Sacramento, CA, Fresno, CA, or Reno, NV. The Electrical Design Co-op is responsible for assisting the Electrical Design Team with initial job set up, drafting support, design support, review of designs against project scope and applicable codes, and quality assurance. The majority of the work performed by the Electrical Design Co-op will be completed using Autodesk Revit. The ideal candidate will have superior communication skills, a solid background in mathematics, engineering, and the practical sciences, and the ability to quickly learn and utilize a variety of engineering software packages. This is an entry level temporary position with a focus on students interested in a career in electrical consulting and construction with the intent of becoming a Professional Engineer. No previous experience in construction or engineering is required; however, the candidate must to be pursuing a BSEE or similar degree. No knowledge of Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD, or the California Electrical Code is required as on-the-job training will be provided. Students with a keen interest in programming will have the opportunity to assist in the development of custom programs, routines, families, and tools to assist electrical designers in common tasks by working with our software development team.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in the setup and completion of building plans based upon markups from other designers and engineersAssist with designs to meet electrical code requirements, including load calculationsSuccessful communication with department members, other employees, and clientsAssist in completing lighting analysis utilizing department softwareAbility to recognize basic plan problems, including mark-up omissions or duplicationsAssist and work with other department members, offering flexibility in task assignmentsAssist in development and maintenance of Design standards including developing custom families within RevitComplete panel schedulesIdentify cost effective or cost saving design itemsBecome familiar with the NEC, CEC, HCAI, and NFPA standardsReports to Engineering Group ManagerWHATS IN IT FOR YOU?Company You would be part of a company that's an industry leader with an impressive track record, rich history and heritage, and talented managers. Your sustained contributions will be rewarded over time.Rex Moore Group, Inc. is an EEO employer.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Must be currently enrolled in a four-year degree program and have completed at least 36 hours of course work that has included: (2) Semesters of full-time study in pursuit of BSEE (6) Hours of Electrical Engineering related courses (3) Hours Written / Verbal Communications in English (6) Hours in Mathematics with at least one course in Calculus (3) Hours of Physics (3) Hours related to Computer Science and/or Programming (1) Hours of laboratory coursework related to any science Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel Familiarity with Microsoft Teams / Zoom Excellent communications skills, strong typing skills, attention to detail Ability to read technical materials and drawings Ability to utilize on-line resources for collection of site, project, and product data Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit preferred but not required For Software Development: Knowledge of C#, Azure required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Regularly sit, stand, and walk for long and short distances. Required to hear with or without correction to be able to interpret and receive information and directions. Regularly required to communicate: verbal and written, to describe and explain detailed, important, and accurate instructions. Occasionally lift and/or move material up to 25lbs.
