Job Summary
Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and
admission of individuals who have hospital based outpatient testing
or procedures. Ensures that the patient information is collected
and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters
information required for admission into computer database.
Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.
Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
Per Diem Salary $22.00

Minimum Education and Work Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of admission/registration experience or physician
office, hospital or other customer contact experience in a business
setting preferred. Required Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally
and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate clear oral and written communication
skills
- Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work.
- Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships to
ensure a positive and productive work environment.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Ability to type 50 wpm.
- Knowledge and proficiency of department information system and
applications including Microsoft Office, e-mail system, and the
clinical and financial information systems appropriate to the
department.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, hospital billing procedures

Essential Functions
- Answer telephone and responds to all inquiries or routes calls
to appropriate station.
- Interviews patients, or other persons responsible for patients,
to obtain personal, demographic and insurance information prior to
services being performed.
- Is the PBX Operator.
- Maintains cleanliness of waiting area.
- Provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
- Assures beverages and snacks for visitors are stocked
appropriately.
- Prepares necessary paperwork according to established policies
and procedures, obtains required signatures to assure compliance
with laws and regulations.
- Confirms all required forms, signatures and documentation is
forwarded to Patient Accounting Prepares patient charts for next
day surgeries, including printing labels and forms.
- Registers outpatient, same day surgical and inpatient
cases.
