- Communicates laboratory results to the proper reporting
channels and persons as per company guidelines, including entry and
maintenance of LIMS, shelf-life and other databases.
- Review analytical reports for accuracy of results; maintain
records that indicate reporting discrepancies and initiate
corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Determine the root cause of problems by examining and
evaluating data and offer suggestions for correcting the
problem.
- Maintain safe practices and procedures in the lab and with lab
personnel. Maintain proper job procedures, hazardous waste disposal
procedures, use of lab, and Personal Protective Equipment.
- Keeps laboratory and FSQR supplies ready by inventorying stock,
placing orders, and verifying receipt. Ensure proper rotation and
review of chemical supply to prevent use of expired chemicals.
- Assists in ensuring calibration and maintenance of test
equipment is kept current and notifies designated personnel of
unscheduled verification of equipment as warranted by questionable
test results.
- Assist in monitoring and training existing and new workers to
ensure procedural compliance, proper equipment operation, and
specification standards.
- Conducts direct observations, and sampling verifications in the
plant.
- Modifies workers' assignments to meet priorities and to adjust
workloads according to worker absenteeism.
- Provide support for the laboratory supervisor and FSQR team,
helping/coordinating special projects with the team. Required
Qualifications
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa
sponsorship
- Must be 18 years or older
- Leadership ability required providing direction to lab
technicians
- Demonstrated basic understanding of microbiology and chemistry;
knowledge of lab testing including plating, titrations, fat and
moisture determination, aseptic techniques
- Demonstrated trouble-shooting skills and excellent attention to
detail
- Ability to handle pressure and stress while managing multiple
tasks
- Must be able to speak and write in English; Spanish speaking
ability helpful
- Proficient computer skills and ability to pick up new programs
quickly (Microsoft Office Suite, LIMS, other database
programs)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Be able to lift in excess of 25 pounds, cut and trim samples
with a knife Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years' experience in laboratory or QC in a food
production /manufacturing environment in lieu of education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science,
or closely related field preferred
