The successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate students, conduct scholarly and applied research, and engage in service-related activities. The successful candidates must be able to teach in our existing curriculum. Other duties will include but are not limited to, advising Criminology students, participating in program development, actively engaging in research and problem-solving activities, and undertaking committee service at all levels of University governance. Applicants from historically underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.There are multiple separate substantive teaching and research areas needed, including our Forensic Behavioral Science (FBS) major and Victimology option. However, all other backgrounds related to Criminology and FBS broadly will be considered. All successful candidates should be able to teach Research Methods and Statistics.Position #1 FBSThe FBS major is seeking a person with demonstrable research expertise that may include, but is not limited to, psychology (e.g., biological, clinical, cognitive, experimental, forensic, legal, neurological, or social), neuroscience, biostatistics, or other closely related disciplines. Qualified candidates must be able to contribute to the current specialized curriculum in the Forensic Behavioral Sciences major. Knowledge of the nexus between the behavioral sciences and the civil and criminal justice systems is desirable.Position #2 VictimologyThe Victimology Option within the Criminology Department is seeking a candidate with teaching and research expertise in theoretical victimology, victim advocacy and victim rights, family violence, and/or trauma-informed crisis intervention and victim support. A successful candidate will present a research agenda into victimology related topics and be able to teach and supervise student research in this specific field.Our Department: The Criminology Department is proud to be recognized as one of the best and most unique departments in the state, taking pride in offering students a wide array of educational and networking opportunities. The Department offers a Criminology major, with specialties in Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Victimology, and a Forensic Behavioral Sciences (FBS) major. The Department also offers several certificate programs, including the Victim Services Certificate. Together we are the largest major on campus with over 1800 undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty also utilize the FBS Laboratory for research with students as participants or research assistants. The Department also has excellent collaboration with local criminal justice agencies and victim services, and is actively involved in numerous grant projects. The Ph.D. must be completed by 8/1/2021. Evidence of completion will be required. Failure to complete the required degree prior to this date will invalidate the appointment. Candidates without a Ph.D. or ABD are not eligible for these positions.Required Experience: Applicants must demonstrate: Ability to demonstrate a commitment to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Experience: Applicants must demonstrate evidence of: demonstrable teaching and research expertise related to FBS or Victimology (see summaries of positions #1-2 above for more information) teaching experience and effectiveness at the university level (experience as a graduate teaching assistant is acceptable) or demonstration of teaching potential a record of scholarly paper and/or poster presentations consistent with their years of experience peer-reviewed publications consistent with their years of experience show promise of future research productivity with the ability to include and supervise student research demonstrable, or potential for, applied service experience in areas that may be applied to Criminological, Criminal Justice, Victimological, and/or FBS issues on a local, state, national, or international level ability, or potential, to teach online and/ or hybrid classes Application Procedures (Revised review begin): Preference will be given to those received by November 30, 2020, and will continue until the position is filled.
