Description:Reporting to the Office Coordinator, SAMF Occupational Med - Millbrook, this position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and patient care activities associated with the personal needs and comfort of clinic patients and assisting physicians and staff members of the Urgent Care team. The Lead Medical Assistant provides coverage for both front office and back office functions as assigned. This includes greeting and welcoming patients and visitors, answering the telephone, scheduling and registering patients, taking them back to the exam room and assisting the physician with examinations and treatment. Additionally, this position is responsible for leading the work of the other Medical Assistants and Front Office staff on the day-to-day workflow to ensure optimal efficiency and high-quality customer service. These duties are to be performed in a prompt, friendly and accurate manner while maintaining confidentiality.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.2. Education and at least four (4) years' experience sufficient to perform responsibilities of a medical assistant is required.3. Current national certification as a Medical Assistant is required within six (6) months of hire into position.4. One year supervisory/lead type experience or completion of Medical Office Administration Certification and six months ofexperience is required.5. Knowledge and skill in assisting in a variety of examinations, diagnostic and treatment procedures, knowledge of common safetyhazards and precautions is required.6. Skill in taking vital signs, maintaining records and recording results, ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations,familiarity with computers, word processing, medical terminology, spreadsheets, CPT/ICD10 coding, Workers Compensationprocedures, and experience with registration and billing is required.7. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and computer skills are required.8. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card is required.9. Knowledge of the referral and pre-authorization process is required.10. Certification in Audiometry, Spirometry, and Breath Alcohol Testing is preferred.11. Fluency in writing and speaking Spanish is preferred.
