Job Description Director of Safety and Food Safety Services
Primary Duties -
- Perform safety and food safety services for members and
clients
- Work with and assist Safety Specialist in providing these
services
- Provide support for administrative staff Detailed Duties -
- Provide safety and food safety services for members and clients
- Conduct pre-season and on-demand safety training
- Conduct audits and inspections
- Conduct accident investigations
- Develop written plans and programs
- Prepare, file and carryout Cal/OSHA Appeals
- Develop and carryout Specific Training Meetings
- Conduct regional trainings on the following topics:
lockout/tagout, confined spaces, aerial lift/fall protection,
hazard communication, and yard truck safety
- Participate in, and provide support for Safety/Labor Summits
and Annual Meeting
- Perform duties related to Association outreach
- Write newsletter articles related to safety and food
safety
- Write 3 or 4 articles per year for West Coast Nut Grower Guide
related to safety and/or food safety
- Develop latest news bulletins and social media content on
safety, food safety and environmental related items
- Prepare and provide updates on safety and environmental issues
at quarterly board meetings
- Monitor Cal/OSHA Activites
- Attend Cal/OSHA board meetings and advisory meetings
- Develop and submit testimony and comments on pertinent and
applicable regulations
- Professional development
- Attend at least four training sessions per year related to
safety and food safety issues
- Attend Annual AgSafe meeting
- Participate in local and regional American Society of Safety
Professionals (ASSP) eventsQualifications and Requirements -
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university in agriculture,
safety, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently or as a team member
- Ability to accomplish tasks w/ minimal supervision
- Excellent customer service skills
- Effective communicator and planner
- Preferably bilingual in Spanish and English
- Ability to set priorities and work on multiple tasks
- Ability to travel 20% of the time within state and 2% of time
out of state within U.S.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and
Access)
