We are currently seeking an experienced, competitive, individual
to join our company as an Agriculture Procurement Manager in the TX
Panhandle - Portales, NM area.
The ideal candidate has an agriculture background with previous
procurement experience in commodities such as grains, cotton,
fruits/vegetables, or seed chemicals and/or fertilizers. Moreover,
we need someone that can build trust and grow relationships with
current growers/farmers while seeking out new ones. Someone that
offers a fair deal for the grower while holding a firm line for our
company. In this key position as Procurement Manager, you will
travel to and work closely with buying points and grower partners
to source the highest quality Farmer Stock our internal and
external customers require.

Bachelor's Degree preferably in Crop and Soil Science, Ag Business
or Business Management
3-5+ years of agriculture procurement experience
2+ years of Management/Leadership experience

Identify and cultivate relationships with the best growers in the
region. Utilizing yield and grade data to help make determinations
on grower performance. As well as the resourcefulness and
willingness to seek out new growers, potentially in new growing
Contract the desired number of acres by commodity along with
lbs./acre based off reasonable levels of historical production.
Along with this, assist in determining fair market value in which
to offer for each commodity to be contracted.
Manage buying network which includes multiple company owned Buying
Points as well as Commissioned Buying Agents.
Manage a team of 4-6 people which would primarily be Buying Point
Managers and Inventory Controllers.
Farmer Stock Procurement is competitive in nature and growers must
be customers. Price is not the only driver in securing a grower's
acres. The service provided in the handling of the grower's crop as
well as the quality of seed offered is potentially more important.
Customer focused service in these areas is critical to our
Inventory management as it pertains to shrink and quality
degradation through handling, warehousing, and delivery to shelling
Work with your team to develop solid storage and handling
strategies to ensure the service we provide is equal to or superior
to our competitors.
Responsible for our Seed Program - contracting seed acres with high
quality growers, segregation to ensure quality/purity through
shelling/treating and finally accurate/timely invoicing and
Responsible for ensuring all contract documents are signed
accurately and timely. This includes Agreement to Plant Contracts,
Contract Worksheets, Seed Orders, Seed Exchanges, Assignment of
Indemnities, POA's & finally the formal Option Contract.
Willing to work with and build relationships with public and
private breeding programs to insure we can source the best
varieties available for our growers.
Responsible for working with Extension, Research, and consultants
to assist in providing agronomic solutions to problems pertaining
to yield, grade, and quality.
Provide regular updates on crop progress with estimates of final
production and quality.
