This position is responsible for directing all financial
functions of the Zoo in accordance with generally accepted
accounting principles and in support of the Zoo's mission and
goals. The CFO assumes ultimate responsibility for ensuring that
the Zoo complies with all local, state and federal regulations that
pertain to the handling of monies, taxes and insurance by a
not-for-profit institution. The position also provides direction
for daily Accounting office activities, and oversees technology and
information management. The CFO oversees and administers requests
for proposal or qualifications processes and contracts as needed.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this position is
expected to participate with all other team members in a collegial
and collaborative manner, considering issues and making decisions
from the view of the Zoo as a whole, without partiality to one's
own area(s) of responsibility. Members of the Executive Leadership
Team must be able to employ systems thinking and understand that
all areas of the Zoo are inter-related and dependent on one
another. Essential Functions: Develops, oversees, and prepares the
Zoo's annual operating and capital budgets process with the
assistance from the executive leadership team at the direction of
the CEO and COO. Supports the Executive team by providing them the
information they need to effectively manage their budgets. Directs
and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of
the organization. Establish and maintain strong relationships with
the executive team as to identify their needs and seek full range
of business solutions. Provide recommendations to strategically
enhance financial performance and business opportunities. Manages
the external audit process and produces the audited financial
statements. Maintains positive relationships with bankers,
auditors, vendors and city/county representatives, and works with
financial institutions to secure and maintain lines of credit or
other resources as needed. Completes all requests for reimbursement
and/or appropriation of sales tax funds. Submits the appropriate
data to the Tax Authority administrator. Completes all necessary
information for receipt of City funds. Prepares a variety of
financial reports including monthly financial statements, capital
project reports, operational reports, and others as needed.
Examines and analyzes all financial documents for potential errors
and trends in revenues and expenses. Ensures timely reporting of
financial information to the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance
Committee, and County Authority representatives as appropriate.
Analyze, evaluates and advises on the impact of revenue trends,
long-range planning, forecasting and the introduction of new
programs, ROI, strategies and regulatory action. Responsible for
maintaining the Zoo's data information software programs and
related--computer hardware. Provides direction and oversight for
third-party hardware and software vendors and staff who support the
Zoo's data information programs and activities. Participates in our
sustainability efforts through analysis and recommendations broaden
our green efforts. Manages concessions contracts and monitors
revenues. Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
for financial and tax reporting. Oversees the accounting of
restricted donations and appropriations from private and public
sources. Serves as Advisor to the Board of Director's Finance and
Audit Committees. Engages in other duties as assigned to meet the
goals and objectives of the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. Manages payroll for
direct reports and oversees the implementation of wage and hour
regulations. Manages the schedules for all direct reports and
oversees the implementation of appropriate regulations. Other
duties as assigned. Management Accountabilities: Customarily and

for the management of the team. Willingly engages the team/ Zoo
staff and proves to be an inspirational leader. Actively create

Remains accessible to the Zoo staff by cell phone. Uses
professional courtesy and only call/texts on day off in the event
of an emergency. Provides regular performance feedback to reporting
staff. Completes timely and appropriate written evaluations that
highlight strengths and areas for improvement. Qualifications
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance or related field required. Current Certified
Public Accountant certification and/or MBA is preferred. Minimum
five years' accounting and financial management experience
required. Experience in a not-for-profit organization or zoo
preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and computerized
financial systems is required. Proficiency with Centaman and
Raiser's Edge software packages preferred. Strong planning,
analytical and decision making skills are required, with the
ability to work in a dynamic, evolving organization. Demonstrates
motivational and problem solving acumen with a high degree of
integrity and ethics. Physical Requirements: These are physical and
