Position Description Associate Vice President for the Office of
Institutional Effectiveness
(Administrator III)Compensation and BenefitsSalary is competitive
and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. -This
is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position.The CSU system
provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical,
dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public
Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and
14 paid holidays a year. Eligible employees are also able to

benefit information can be found here .Job Summaryuniversity's
planning and assessment process, facilitates the continuation of
regional accreditation, engages in decision-making, and responds to
requests for institutional data from University departments and
external organizations. The AVP will lead a team responsible for
the collection, analysis, interpretation, and communication of
data, both internal and external, to drive institutional
decision-making, creating university dashboards and reports,
benchmarking, and handling all internal and external requests for
institutional data, including governmental agency reporting
requirements, ranking entities, IPEDS, and all other accrediting or
reporting agencies. The AVP will work with the provost, the vice
presidents of student affairs, university advancement, and
administrative services, and the president to plan, assess, and
achieve the university's strategic plan; support the program
evaluation process reviews of academic programs; and implement and
manage an assessment system to document, monitor, and evaluate the
productivity and effectiveness of student learning outcomes. This
position reports directly to the university provost and serves on
the Provost's Cabinet.Key Qualifications
- Research techniques, including the planning of studies and
investigations, survey methods, the determining of variables, and
the developing of reference materials.
- Principles and practices of effective leadership, motivation
and performance evaluation.
- Contemporary evidence-based practices, tools and technology in
the development of new methods and procedures in institutional
research and assessment.
- Research reporting techniques; regression analysis, data
visualization, treatment of data such as simple correlation
methods, trend analysis, frequency distribution analysis, sampling
techniques, hypothesis testing, and methods of interval estimation;
and general knowledge of sources of information on social,
economic, and population trends.
- Manage and provide guidance for institutional change.
- Managing large databases, analytics, and using database
management software to query and manipulate data.
- Analyze complex data sets; identify and troubleshoot data
integrity issues within the system including cleaning extracted
data; and collaborative developing policies and processes around
the use and collection of data.

- Master's degree in relevant fields required (social science,
higher education, or a related field that includes statistical
analysis and/or research methodology). -
- Eight (8) years of professional experience of increasing
complexity in higher education, institutional research, program
evaluation and campus planning, or a demonstrated record of
