As a family company we value the expertise and experience of our team.Job Description:The Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining a system of financial controls and reporting for the construction entities. Will work collaboratively with various department managers to analyze costs, assess vendor relationships, and maximize profitability. Must demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem solving, and resourcefulness, with a deep commitment to the bottom line without compromising quality. This position reports to and works closely with the CFO.Job Duties:Oversee the activities of the construction accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc; funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.Prepare and analyze WIP schedules and work with the Project Managers to ensure accuracy of job projections.Prepare and/or review quarterly and annual compliance returns (i.e. sales tax, property tax, etc.)Manage accounting team to ensure work productivity and morale are maximized.Participation in leadership meeting with other company managers.Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.Respond to the CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.Job Requirements:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferredFive years of hands-on accounting and managerial experience in the construction industry required.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and compliance requirementsExperience with Construction Accounting software (Spectrum) preferredProficient in Microsoft Office and data entryAbility to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accuratelyMust be able to type 45 WPM and use a ten key calculator by touchEffective oral and written communication skillsHigh degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentialityAbility to work well independently and with othersMust comply with all company policies and safety proceduresMust have good time management and the ability to meet deadlinesAdherence to company CPNI policyMust actively participate in a team environment and practice "Corporate andSpirit of 46 values"-- -A DMV and criminal background check will be required upon receipt of a conditional job offer for this position.Must have a valid California driver license and favorable DMV recordPhysical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:Must be able to sit for long periods of time.Must have minimal ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, push, and pull as required for light duties of standard office clerical positions.Occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 lbs.Exposure to air-conditioned/heated office environment.Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word level.Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing data, operation of office equipment, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.Compliance:If you need an accommodation as part of the employment process, please contact Human Resources.Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans.If you want to view the EEO is the Law poster, please choose your language: English - Spanish - Arabic - ChineseIf you want to view the EEO is the Law Supplement poster, please choose your language: English - Spanish - Arabic - ChineseIf you want to view the Pay Transparency Policy Statement, please click the link: English #seniorlevel
